How are we supposed to live knowing all we know?

How are we supposed to live knowing what we now know?

How am I meant to conduct everyday life with the awareness of what is happening in real time?

The atrocities committed by men and women in power have been happening for centuries. The difference now is this: we are confronted with images, videos, and first-hand accounts that incriminate the very leaders and influencers of this world, the same ones who have the audacity to dictate how we should live, what we must pay simply to exist, where we are allowed to go, and who with.

I often wonder where my taxes actually go.

It must be to fund your sickness? Because the roads are still filled with holes, public transport still ancient, not on time, healthcare inaccessible, social protection non existent and education poor.

What are we supposed to do when we know without a shadow of a doubt, what we know?

When did sex trafficking, of anyone let alone children, become ordinary? When did it become background noise?

Thousands of years ago, when people sacrificed children in desperate attempts to hear from false gods, God — Jehovah — gave them time to repent. When they refused, they were handed over to their enemies, plundered, and exiled as the ultimate consequence.

So I ask: are we, the innocent, now their enemies?

I know vengeance belongs to the Lord, but Lord, are we meant to be the vessels that overturn them?

If so, I’m willing.

I’m willing to be that soldier.

This can’t be real life.

But it is.

And then somehow, it gets even more absurd, when those untouched by the trauma feel offended, feel discriminated against. Are you okay?

Thank God, in this instance, melanin was not the desire. And if you still feel left out, read, or better yet, go and help people who look like you in Congo or Sudan. I’m sure they would love the chance not to be desired, but instead to experience peace and safety.

So many of you are unhinged. You think this is a game, or some twisted film. But every “horror” movie you’ve consumed as entertainment comes from someone’s lived reality, repackaged and screened for us fools.

So I ask again, seriously, what do we do, knowing all that we know?

Because this feels like the moment to resist the beast!
